Recognition Field
The entry is assigned to one of six fields.
Review Methodology
IBA uses a category-based review methodology to consider beauty achievement with structure, context, and consistency across six recognition fields.
One framework. Six fields. Context-aware recognition.
Quick Answer
International Beauty Awards™ uses a category-based contextual review methodology. Each entry is considered within its selected recognition field using five shared dimensions: Category Fit, Substance, Expression, Relevance, and Contribution. The methodology keeps evaluation consistent while allowing different types of entries, such as professionals, brands, products, salons, manufacturers, and service organizations, to be understood within their own beauty industry context.
Methodology Philosophy
The beauty industry is not built by one type of achievement. A founder’s influence, a brand’s identity, a product’s presentation, a salon’s client experience, a manufacturer’s capability, and a service provider’s enabling role each create value in different ways.
IBA’s methodology is designed to avoid comparing unlike entries as if they were the same. Instead, each entry is first placed within the correct recognition field, then reviewed through shared dimensions that are interpreted according to the nature of that field.
IBA applies a common framework, but reads each entry in its proper context.

Methodology Map
The methodology moves from category placement to contextual interpretation. It keeps review language stable while preventing different kinds of beauty achievement from being treated as the same thing.
The entry is assigned to one of six fields.
IBA identifies what is being recognized: a person, brand, product, salon, manufacturer, supply chain organization, or service provider.
IBA considers the materials, visuals, links, descriptions, references, and statement of merit provided.
IBA applies Category Fit, Substance, Expression, Relevance, and Contribution.
Each dimension is interpreted according to the selected recognition field.
IBA determines Nominee, Gold Award, or Grand Gold Award.
Shared Dimensions
IBA uses five shared dimensions to create a consistent evaluation language across different fields.
Does the entry belong in the selected field, and is the primary subject clear?
Does the entry provide enough meaningful material, background, evidence, or explanation to support consideration?
Is the entry presented clearly, professionally, and coherently through its public-facing materials?
Does the entry matter within its audience, market, client base, category, region, or professional context?
Does the entry contribute to beauty expertise, brand development, product presentation, service quality, manufacturing capability, education, technology, media, or industry growth?
Contextual Review
The matrix shows how shared dimensions remain stable while their interpretation changes by field. This is the core of category-based contextual review.

Consistency
IBA’s methodology keeps the review process consistent by using the same five dimensions across all entries while requiring each entry to be interpreted within its proper field. This prevents category confusion and helps applicants understand how to prepare stronger records.
Each entry is placed into one primary recognition field.
Every entry is considered through the same five evaluation dimensions.
Each dimension is interpreted according to the entry’s field.
Final outcomes are classified into Nominee, Gold Award, or Grand Gold Award.
What It Avoids
The methodology protects the meaning of recognition by separating field placement, evidence record, contextual interpretation, and final distinction.
Outcome Logic
The methodology informs the final classification. Applicants choose the field and submit the entry record. IBA determines the outcome after review.
The entry meets the recognition threshold within its field.
The entry demonstrates strong performance across the methodology dimensions.
The entry demonstrates exceptional strength across the methodology dimensions and field context.
Award levels are not selected by applicants and are not determined by audience polling.
In Practice
These examples show how methodology directs an entry toward the right field before the shared dimensions are interpreted.
If the entry is about the founder’s personal leadership, Beauty Professionals may apply. If the entry is about the brand identity, Beauty Brands may apply.
The product is considered through product presentation, category context, public materials, and beauty relevance. It is not treated as a brand-wide recognition.
The salon is considered through service concept, environment, client-facing materials, public presentation, and local or category relevance.
The manufacturer is considered through capability, service scope, production-side role, operational presentation, and supply chain contribution.

Responsible Recognition
IBA recognition is an award-based honor within the International Beauty Awards™ framework. The methodology supports structured recognition based on submitted materials, category relevance, public references where available, professional context, and contribution.
IBA recognition does not constitute product testing, regulatory approval, clinical validation, medical endorsement, product efficacy determination, professional licensing, legal compliance determination, or external authority approval.
Methodology FAQ
These answers clarify why IBA uses a contextual methodology and how applicants should understand field selection, shared dimensions, and final distinction.

Understand the Framework
The strongest entries are clear about what is being recognized, why it belongs in a specific field, and how its materials support that story.
